Crops

Any crop, flower, or herb that you hope to grow on your farm starts off in seed form. Most of these seeds can be purchased at Lyla's Shop for a reasonable price. Here are some important things to keep in mind when dealing with planting seeds on your farm:

Basics

While Lyla's Shop will sell certain crops in only one season, many of them can be planted in a number of seasons. However, after a season has passed it must be replanted. Also, one seed bag can only be planted on one tilled plot of soil.

Mineral Crystals

After you place a bag of seed (crops only) on a tilled soil plot, it can be infused with a mineral crystal (which can be found in the mine). To do this, simply have the mineral crystal in your hands and stand in front of the soil with the seed in it. Press X and the mineral crystal should be applied to the seed now. There are a number of benefits to applying a mineral crystal to a crop seed. For one, the mineral version of the crop has more stamina and fatigue restoring properties. It also sells for a higher price!

Multiple Harvests

Some crops will continue to produce multiple harvests, even after the first harvest (such as tomatoes and corn). The "Multiple Harvests" column in the tables below indicate whether a crop produces multiple harvests or not. keep in mind, if you infuse a multiple-harvest crop with a mineral crystal, it will only produce a single mineral crop and then revert back to the original crop.

Weather and Watering

Pay attention to the weather and how much water your plants are getting. Crops/flowers growth is broken up into stages. At each stage, the crop/flower needs to be watered a certain number of days before moving on to the next growth stage. If you don't water your plant for a number of days, it will wither. On rainy/snowy days, you don't need to worry about watering your crops. Most crops in seed form have a 25-50% chance of being lost after a rainy/snowy day. See the weather section for more info.

Greenhouse & Sprinkler system

All the talk about seasons, the weather, and having to water your crops gets thrown out the window with the Greenhouse and Sprinkler. These two farming upgrades can be purchased at Woody's Carpentry for 45,000G and 75,000G respectively. This is a pretty harsh cost, and it might be a while before you accumulate this much money but both upgrades are worth it. The Greenhouse will allow you to plant any crop all year round, and the Sprinkler system will take care of all your watering.

Hybrids

You can also create hybrid crops in the game by combining two crops together. See more info on Hyrbid crops in the section below.

Mushrooms

Mushrooms are a crop that you can grow, but unlike other crops, you won't grow it on your field. Instead, you'll have to place 1-3 pieces of lumber in the area behind your storehouse, water it everyday and wait for mushrooms to pop up. There's a certain chance that you'll receive big, super, or even gold mushrooms instead of regular mushrooms but the chances aren't as good. To raise your chances of getting gold mushrooms, add mineral crystals to the lumber.

Hybrid Crops

In order to begin creating hybrid crops, you must first have the Transform Machine 3. You get this machine by winning the Steeple Chase event at the Horse Race.
To use the machine, place two seeds in it at a time. The order in which you input the seeds doesn't matter.
